The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released February 2025 Consumer Price Index (CPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes are on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
All items rose 0.4% in the last month and increased 2.8% in the last twelve months
Food at home increased 0.1% from January and rose 1.9% since February 2024
Cereals + bakery products rose 0.5% in the last month and increased 0.3% in the last twelve months
Meats, poultry, fish + eggs increased 1.7% since January and rose 7.7% from February 2024
Dairy + related products fell 1.0% in the last month and increased 0.8% in the last twelve months
Fruits + vegetables decreased 0.7% from January and fell 0.2% since February 2024
Other foods fell 0.2% in the last month and decreased 0.3% in the last twelve months
Gasoline (all types) rose 1.3% since January and decreased 3.1% from February 2024
All items, less food and energy, rose 0.4% in the last month and increased 3.1% in the last twelve months
Apparel increased 3.4% from January and increased 0.6% since February 2024
New vehicles saw no change in the last month and fell 0.3% in the last twelve months
Used cars + trucks rose 0.1% since January and increased 0.8% from February 2024
Motor vehicle parts + equipment fell 0.5% in the last month and rose 1.2% in the last twelve months
Medical care commodities rose 0.1% from January and increased 2.3% since February 2024
Alcoholic beverages increased 0.5% in the last month and rose 1.7% in the last twelve months
Tobacco + smoking rose 0.6% since January and increased 6.6% from February 2024
Personal care products increased 0.9% in the last month and rose 0.3% in the last twelve months
