The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released March 2025 Consumer Price Index (CPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes are on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
All items rose 0.2% in the last month and increased 2.4% in the last twelve months
Food at home increased 0.5% from February and rose 2.4% since March 2024
Cereals + bakery products rose 0.2% in the last month and increased 1.1% in the last twelve months
Meats, poultry, fish + eggs increased 1.0% since February and rose 7.9% from March 2024
Dairy + related products rose 1.0% in the last month and increased 2.2% in the last twelve months
Fruits + vegetables decreased 0.8% from February and fell 0.7% since March 2024
Other foods increased 1.1% in the last month and rose 0.6% in the last twelve months
Gasoline (all types) fell 0.9% since February and decreased 9.8% from March 2024
All items, less food and energy, rose 0.2% in the last month and increased 2.8% in the last twelve months
Apparel increased 1.0% from February and rose 0.3% since March 2024
New vehicles rose 0.1% in the last month and saw no change in the last twelve months
Used cars + trucks increased 0.3% since February and rose 0.6% from March 2024
Motor vehicle parts + equipment fell 0.1% in the last month and rose 1.2% in the last twelve months
Medical care commodities decreased 1.1% from February and increased 1.0% since March 2024
Alcoholic beverages increased 0.2% in the last month and rose 1.9% in the last twelve months
Tobacco + smoking rose 0.6% since February and increased 6.8% from March 2024
Personal care products saw no change in the last month and also saw no change in the last twelve months
