The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released April Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products increased 1.5 % in the last month and decreased 5.1% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds rose 0.7% from March and increased 4.5% since April 2022
- Textile products + apparel increased 0.3% in the last month and rose by 4.7% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power decreased 3.8% since March and decreased by 9.5% from April 2022
- Chemicals + allied products rose 0.2% in the last month and fell 0.9% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products decreased 0.8% from March and increased 3.6% since April 2022
- Lumber + wood products decreased 0.5% in the last month and fell 18.1% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products fell 0.1% since March and rose 3.9% from April 2022
- Metals + metal products increased 0.7% in the last month and decreased 5.7% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment rose 0.4% from March and increased 7.5% since April 2022
- Furniture + household durables saw no change in the last month and rose 6.5% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products increased 0.3% since March and rose 11.8% from April 2022
- Transportation equipment rose 0.2% in the last month and increased 3.9% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products increased 0.4% from March and rose by 6.9% since April 2022
