The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released April ’19 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. The All commodities index increased 0.5% over the last month & rose by 0.9% over the last year on a seasonally unadjusted basis. Photographic equipment and supplies increased 5.3% between March – April 2019 & rose by 7.4% between April ’18 – ’19. Bolts, nuts, screws, rivets and washers increased by 3.4% over the last month & rose by 7.9% over the last year. Dairy products increased 0.9% between March – April ’19 & rose by 4.2% between April ’18 – ’19. Air conditioning and refrigeration equipment increased 0.8% over the last month & rose by 5.9% over the last year. Heating equipment increased 0.8% between March – April ’19 & rose by 6.8% between April ’18 – ’19. Truck trailers increased 0.6% over the last month & rose by 6.8% over the last year. General purpose machinery and equipment increased 0.4% between March – April ’19 & rose by 4.3% between April ’18 – ’19.
