The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released September Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products fell 0.2% in the last month and decreased 1.1% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds rose 0.8% from August and increased 1.7% since September 2023
- Textile products + apparel decreased 0.4% in the last month and increased 0.4% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power decreased 6.1% since August and fell 16.1% from September 2023
- Chemicals + allied products fell 0.8% in the last month and rose 0.2% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products rose 0.1% since August and increased1.3% since September 2023
- Lumber + wood products rose 0.2% in the last month and fell 0.6% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products increased 0.5% since August and rose 2.4% from September 2023
- Metals + metal products decreased 0.2% in the last month and fell 0.3% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment rose 0.2 % from August and increased 2.9% since September 2023
- Furniture + household durables fell 0.2% in the last month and increased 0.7% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products rose 0.4% since August and increased 4.0% from September 2023
- Transportation equipment saw no change in the last month and rose 1.7% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products increased 0.4% from August and increased 5.8% since September 2023
