The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released October 2022 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products increased 0.1% in the last month and rose by 26.7% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds decreased 0.8% since September 2022 and increased 9.5% from October 2021
- Textile products + apparel rose 0.3% in the last month and increased 12.9% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power rose 1.8% from September 2022 and increased 36.6% since October 2021
- Chemicals + allied products decreased by 0.5% in the last month and rose 6.4% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products decreased 0.2% since September 2022 and increased 14.3% from October 2021
- Lumber + wood products decreased 2.5% in the last month and rose 10.3% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products rose 0.1% from September 2022 and increased 12.8% since October 2021
- Metals + metal products decreased 2.3% in the last month and saw no change in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment increased 0.3% since September 2022 and rose by 10.1% from October 2021
- Furniture + household products rose 0.5% in the last month and increased 9.3% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products rose 0.3% from September 2022 and increased by 13.8% since October 2021
- Transportation equipment increased 0.1% in the last month and rose 5.1% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products rose by 0.3% since September 2022 and increased 9.0% from October 2021
