The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released July 2022 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products decreased 2.6% in the last month and increased 27.1% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds decreased 0.4% from June 2022 and increased 13.4% since July 2021
- Textile products + apparel rose 0.9% in the last month and increased 14.1% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power decreased 13.1% since June 2022 and rose 41.0% from July 2021
- Chemicals + allied products rose 0.6% in the last month and increased 12.5% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products increased 1.0% from June 2022 and rose 16.8% since July 2021
- Pulp, paper + allied products increased 0.6% in the last month and rose 13.7% in the last twelve months
- Metals + metal products decreased 3.4% since June 2022 and rose 8.0% from July 2021
- Machinery + equipment rose 0.7% in the last month and increased 10.9% in the last twelve months
- Furniture + household durables increased 0.5% since June 2022 and rose 11.1% from July 2021
- Nonmetallic mineral products increased 1.6% in the last month and rose by 13.3% in the last twelve months
- Transportation equipment rose 0.4% from June 2022 and increased 5.1% since July 2021
- Miscellaneous products rose 0.2% in the last month and increased 7.8% in the last twelve months
