The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released November 2022 Consumer Price Indexes (CPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes are on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- All items rose 0.2% in the last month and increased 8.2% in the last twelve months
- Food at home increased 0.6% from October 2022 and rose 13.0% since November 2021
- Cereals + bakery products rose 0.9% in the last month and increased 16.2% in the last twelve months
- Meats, poultry, fish + eggs rose 0.2% since October 2022 and increased 9.0% from November 2021
- Dairy + related products rose 0.5% in the last month and increased 15.9% in the last twelve months
- Fruits + vegetables rose 1.4% from October 2022 and increased 10.4% since November 2021
- Other foods decreased 0.2% in the last month and rose 15.2% in the last twelve months
- Energy commodities decreased 5.4% since October 2022 and rose 19.7% from November 2021
- Gasoline (all types) decreased 5.6% in the last month and rose 18.2% in the last twelve months
- All items, less food + energy, rose 0.4% from October 2022 and increased 6.6% since November 2021
- Commodities, less food + energy commodities, decreased 0.3% in the last month and rose 6.6% in the last twelve months
- Apparel rose 2.2% since October 2022 and increased 5.5% from November 2021
- New vehicles rose 0.4% in the last month and increased 9.4% in the last twelve months
- Used cars + trucks decreased 4.2% from October 2022 and increased 7.2% since November 2021
- Motor vehicle parts + equipment rose 0.8% in the last month and increased 13.4% in the last twelve months
- Medical care commodities decreased 0.1% since October 2022 and rose 3.7% from November 2021
- Alcoholic beverages rose 0.1% in the last month and increased 4.1% in the last twelve months
- Tobacco + smoking products rose 0.2% from October 2022 and increased 8.2% since November 2021
- Personal care products increased 0.4% in the last month and rose 6.5% in the last twelve months
