The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released November 2019 Consumer Price Indexes (CPI) today. The All commodities index decreased by 0.1% over the last month & has increased 2.1% over the last year on a seasonally unadjusted basis. All items less food and energy was unchanged between October – November ’19 & rose 2.3% between November ’18 – ’19. Commodities less food and energy decreased 0.6% over the last month & rose 0.1% over the last year. Sports vehicles including bicycles rose 1.2% between October – November ’19 & increased by 8.9% between November ’18 – ’19 Newspapers & magazines increased by 0.7% from October to November ’19 and rose by 7.2% from November ’18 – ’19. Stationery, stationery supplies & gift wrap increased by 0.3% from October – November ’19 and rose by 7.2% from November ’18 – ’19. Tobacco and smoking products rose by 0.7% over the last month and increased by 5.5% over the last year. Sporting goods rose 0.7% over the last month and increased by 4.6% over the last year. Candy & chewing gum showed an increase of 0.6% between October- November ’19 and an increase of 4.2% between November ’18 – ’19.
