The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released May 2022 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products rose 2.3% in the last month and increased 26.4% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds increased 0.8% from April 2022 and rose 11.8% since May 2021
- Textile products + apparel rose 1.2% in the last month and increased 11.8% in the last twelve months
- Fuels + related products + power rose 10.4% from April 2022 and increased 55.1% since May 2021
- Chemicals + allied products increased 2.0% in the last month and rose 15.1% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products rose 1.5% from April 2022 and increased 19.5% since May 2021
- Pulp, paper + allied products increased by 0.8% in the last month and rose 16.9% in the last twelve months
- Metals + metal products increased 1.2% since April 2022 and rose 21.7% from May 2021
- Machinery + equipment rose 0.6% in the last month and rose 10.7% in the last twelve months
- Furniture + household durables rose 1.4% from April 2022 and increased 12.0% since May 2021
- Nonmetallic mineral products rose 1.1% in the last month and increased 12.2% in the last twelve months
- Transportation equipment rose 0.4% from April 2022 and increased by 5.1% since May 2021
- Miscellaneous products increased 1.0% in the last month and rose by 9.0% in the last twelve months
