The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released March Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products rose 2.4% in the last month and decreased 7.5% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds rose 1.4% from February and increased 0.8% since March 2023
- Textile products + apparel increased 1.1% in the last month and rose 0.4% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power fell 1.8% since February and decreased by 2.4% from March 2023
- Chemicals + allied products decreased by 0.3% in the last month and fell 3.9% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products rose by 0.4% since February and increased 0.4% since March 2023
- Lumber + wood products rose 0.2% in the last month and fell 1.1% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products fell 0.1% since February and decreased 0.5% from March 2023
- Metals + metal products fell 1.1% in the last month and fell 1.1% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment increased 1.9% from February and decreased 2.0% since March 2023
- Furniture + household durables rose 0.2% in the last month and increased 0.7% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products increased 0.3% since February and increased 4.4% from March 2023
- Transportation equipment rose 0.2% in the last month and increased 1.7% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products increased 0.5% from February and rose 5.2% since March 2023
