The BLS released June 2020 PPI today. The All commodities index decreased 4.6% over the last month & increased 0.9% from June ’19 – ’20.
Food Commodities
Fruits & vegetables rose 6.7% between May – June 2020 & has declined 0.9% over the last 12 months. Chicken eggs decreased 1.6% from May 2020 to June 2020 & has increased 24.3% from June ’19 – ’20. Processed foods and feeds decreased 5.3% over the last month & increased 1.7% over the last 12 months. Cereal and bakery products increased 0.1% from May – June ’20 and rose 0.5% for the 12 months ended June 2020. Meats, poultry and fish dropped 19.5% over the last month & has increased 4.1% for the 12 months ended June ’20. Dairy products increased 7.3% over the last month and has decreased 0.5% over the last 12 months. Processed fruits and vegetables increased 0.1% from May – June 2020 and has increased 1.0% between June 2019 – June 2020. Sugar & confectionary dropped 0.9% over the last month and has increased 0.9% over the last 12 months. Beverages and beverage materials declined 0.1% between May – June ’20 and has risen 1.6% between June ’19 – ’20. Miscellaneous processed foods decreased 0.3% over the last month & has increased 1.7% over the last 12 months.
Other Price Change Highlights
Nonferrous metal ores increased 2.1% over the last month & has risen 17.6% over the last 12 months. Nonferrous scrap rose 4.7% between May – June ’20 & increased 7.1% between June ’19 – ’20. Lumber increased 7% over the last month & rose 7.8% over the last 12 months. Building paper & building board mill products increased 4.7% between May – June ’20 & increased 6.6% between June ’19 – ’20. Treated wood & contract wood preserving rose 3.4% over the last month & increased 6.0% over the last 12 months. Construction sand, gravel and crushed stone rose 0.7% between May – June ’20 & increased 4.7% between June ’19 – 20′. Thermosetting resins and plastics materials increased 4.7% over the last month and rose 3.1% over the last 12 months.
