The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released July 2021 Consumer Price Indexes (CPI) today. The all items index rose 0.5% in the last month and increased 5.4% in the last twelve months. All items less food + energy increased 0.3% from June 2021 & rose 4.3% from July 2020. Commodities less food and energy commodities rose 0.4% in the last month and increased by 8.5% in the last twelve months. Food rose 0.7% since June 2021 and increased 3.4% since July 2020. Food at home rose by 0.6% in the last month and increased 2.6% in the last twelve months. Fish and seafood increased 1.5% from June 2021 and rose 6.6% since July 2021. Meats, poultry, fish + eggs rose 1.4% in the last month and increased 5.9% in the last twelve months. Gasoline (all types) increased 2.5% from June 2021 and rose 41.8% from July 2020. Used cars and trucks increased 0.8% in the last month and rose 41.7% in the last twelve months. Major appliances increased by 0.9% from June 2021 and rose by 12.3% from July 2020. Motor vehicle parts + equipment rose 1.1% in the last month and increased 4.3% in the last twelve months.
