The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released January 2022 Consumer Price Indexes (CPI) today. The all items index rose 0.8% in the last month and increased 7.5% in the last twelve months. All items, less food + energy, increased 0.7% between December 2021 and January 2022 and rose 6.0% from January 2021 to January 2022. Commodities, less food and energy commodities, increased by 1.3% in the last month and rose 11.7% in the last twelve months. Used cars + trucks increased 1.5% between December 2021 and January 2022 and rose 40.5% between January 2021 and January 2022. Motor vehicle parts + equipment rose 1.7% in the last month and increased 12.6% in the last twelve months. Food at home rose 1.2% between December 2021 and January 2022 and increased 7.4% from January 2021 to January 2022. Meats, poultry + fish increased 0.2% in the last month and rose 12.2% in the last twelve months. Other foods rose by 1.0% between January 2021 and December 2022 and increased 7.3% from January 2021 to January 2022. Cereals + bakery products rose 1.7% in the last month and increased by 6.8% in the last twelve months. Fruits + vegetables increased 1.7% between December 2021 and January 2022 and rose 5.6% from January 2021 to January 2022. Sugar + sweets increased 1.6% in the last month and rose 5.4% in the last twelve months. Juices + nonalcoholic drinks increased 0.4% between December 2021 and January 2022 and rose 4.6% from January 2021 to January 2022. Dairy + related products rose 1.4% in the last month and increased 3.1% in the last twelve months. Apparel increased 2.5% between December 2021 and January 2022 and rose by 5.3% from January 2021 to January 2022.
