The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released February 2023 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products decreased 2.3% in the last month and increased 6.7% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds decreased 1.1% from January and rose 5.8% from February 2022
- Textile products + apparel saw no change in the last month and rose 4.9% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power decreased 2.1% since January and decreased 2.1% from February 2022
- Chemicals + allied products saw no change in the last month and rose 0.7% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products rose 0.3% from January and increased 5.6% since February 2022
- Lumber + wood products saw no change in the last month and decreased 14.7% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products decreased 0.2% since January and increased 6.8% from February 2022
- Metals + metal products rose 1.4% in the last month and decreased 4.3% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment rose 0.4% from January and increased 8.1% since February 2022
- Furniture + household durables increased 0.4% in the last month and rose 8.1% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products rose 1.1% since January and increased 12.0% from February 2022
- Transportation equipment increased 0.2% in the last month and rose 4.3% in the last month
- Miscellaneous products rose 0.4% from January and increased 7.4% since February 2022
