The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released October Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products fell 3.7% in the last month and decreased 14.3% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds decreased 0.6% from September and rose 0.9% since October 2022
- Textile products + apparel rose by 0.5% in the last month and fell 1.0% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power fell 5.4% since September and decreased by 12.9% from October 2022
- Chemicals + allied products rose 0.5% in the last month and fell 5.0% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products decreased by 0.2% from September and fell by 3.1% since October 2022
- Lumber + wood products decreased 0.2% in the last month and fell 7.8% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products increased 0.1% since September and fell 1.0% from October 2022
- Metals + metal products fell 1.1% in the last month and decreased 3.0% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment saw no change from September and increased 4.4% since October 2022
- Furniture + household durables rose 0.1% in the last month and increased 2.4% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products increased 0.5% since September and increased 5.9% from October 2022
- Transportation equipment rose 0.1% in the last month and increased 2.1% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products rose 0.3% from September and increased 5.4% since October 2022
