The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released March 2018 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. The PPI for Farm products, processed foods and feeds increased by 2.0% from February ’18 to March ’18 on a seasonally unadjusted basis. Prices for the Iron and steel group increased 2.3% from February ’18 to March ’18, while the All commodities group declined 0.2% over the same one month period. Metals and metal products also rose 1.2% over the last month, while Chemicals & Allied Products declined 0.2% during this time. Lumber also rose 1.4% from February ’18 – March ’18, and the Iron and Steel PPI category also rose 2.3% during the same period.
