The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released June 2023 Consumer Price Index (CPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes are on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- All items increased 0.1% in the last month and rose 2.0% in the last twelve months
- Food at home decreased 0.1% from May and increased 10.1% since June 2022
- Cereals + bakery products increased 0.2% in the last month and increased 16.0% in the last twelve months
- Meats, poultry, fish + eggs decreased 0.1% since May and rose 4.8% from June 2022
- Dairy + related products decreased by 0.5% in the last month and increased 10.7% in the last twelve months
- Fruits + vegetables fell 0.1% from May and increased 5.1% since June 2022
- Other foods decreased .2% in the last month and increased 13.2% in the last twelve months
- Gasoline (all types) rose 0.7% since May and increased 3.4% from June 2022
- All items, less food and energy, decreased 5.5% in the last month and increased 0.1% in the last twelve months
- Apparel decreased 0.7% from May and rose 2.1% since June 2022
- New vehicles decreased by 1.6% in the last month and rose 6.2% in the last twelve months
- Used cars + trucks rose 1.2% since May and fell 4.7% from June 2022
- Motor vehicle parts + equipment decreased 0.1% in the last month and rose 6.7% in the last twelve months
- Medical care commodities rose 0.2% from May and increased 5.2% since June 2022
- Alcoholic beverages fell 0.1% in the last month and rose 4.5% in the last twelve months
- Tobacco + smoking products rose 0.1 % since May and increased 8.3% from June2022
- Personal care products increased 0.2% in the lat month and rose 9.5% in the last twelve months
