The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released June 2019 Consumer Price Indexes (CPI) today. The all items category was unchanged over the last month & rose by 1.6% over the last year while All items less food and energy increased 0.2% from May – June 19 and rose by 2.1% from May ’18 – ’19. The Commodities less food and energy commodities category was also unchanged over the last month & increased by 0.2% over the last year. Living room, kitchen & dining room furniture increased by 1.3% from May – June ’19 & rose by 3.6% from May ’18 – ’19. Household paper products increased by 0.5% over the last month & rose by 5.6% over the last year. Newspapers & magazines increased by 0.5% from May – June 2019 and rose by 8.1% from May ’18 – ’19. Women’s outerwear increased 2.4% over the last month & rose by 5.4% over the last year. Medical equipment & supplies increased 0.6% from May – June 2019 and rose by 3.5% from June ’18 – ’19. Floor coverings increased 1.2% over the last month and rose by 3.5% over the last year. Baby food increased 1.0% from May – June ’19 and rose by 4.8% from June ’18 – ’19. All inflation rates mentioned above are seasonally unadjusted.
