The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released January 2025 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products increased 1.6% in the last month and rose 12.4% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds rose 0.4% from December and increased 4.6% since January 2024
- Textile products + apparel rose 0.5% in the last month and increased 1.2% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power increased 5.2% since December and rose 2.0% from January 2024
- Chemicals + allied products rose 0.8% in the last month and increased 1.6% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products rose 0.2% since December and increased 0.9% since January 2024
- Lumber + wood products saw no change in the last month and increased 1.3% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products saw no change since December and rose 3.4% from January 2024
- Metals + metal products rose by 0.7% in the last month and fell 1.1% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment rose 0.6% from December and increased 2.6% since January 2024
- Furniture + household durables increased 0.6% in the last month and rose 1.6% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products rose 2.5% since December and increased 4.0% from January 2024
- Transportation equipment increased 0.1% in the last month and rose 1.6% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products rose 0.3% from December and increased 5.1% since January 2024
