The BLS released February 2021 PPI today. The all commodities index rose 2.1% in the last month and increased 6.0% in the last twelve months. Farm products saw a 2.6% increase from January and increased 13.3% from February 2020. Processed foods and feeds saw a 1.7% increase in the last month and rose 3.9% in the last twelve months. Meats, poultry and fish rose 5.5% since January 2021 and increased 9.1% from February 2020. Processed poultry increased 6.7% in the last month and rose 8.7% in the last twelve months. Prepared animal feeds increased by 2.8% from January and rose 14.1% since February 2020. Fuels and related products and power rose 5.6% in the last month and increased 10.8% in the last twelve months. Chemicals and allied products saw a 2.0% increase from January and rose by 5.4% since February 2020. Basic organic chemicals increased by 4.6% in the last month and increased 9.0% in the last twelve months. Plastic resins and materials increased 5.8% since January and rose by 15.7% from February 2020. Thermoplastic resins and plastic materials increased 6.5% from January and rose by 18.9% since February 2020. Lumber and wood products increased 2.9% in the last month and rose 25.4% in the last twelve months. Lumber increased 6.5% from January and rose 59.5% since February 2020. Plywood increased 7.2% in the last month and rose by 45.0% in the last twelve months. Pulp, paper and allied products increased 1.0% since January and increased 5.3% from February 2020. Metals and metal products rose 2.6% in the last month and increased 12.4% in the last twelve months. Iron and steel rose 4.1% from January and increased 22.0% from February 2020. Steel mill products increased 11.8% in the last month and increased by 19.4% in the last twelve months. Nonferrous mill shapes increased 1.2% from January and increased 11.4% since February 2020. Nonferrous wire and cable rose 2.4% in the last month and increased 14.1% in the last twelve months.
