The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released December Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products increased 1.1% in the last month and rose 9.1% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds fell 0.2% from November and increased 4.0% since December 2023
- Textile products + apparel rose 0.8% in the last month and increased 0.8% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power increased 0.7% since November and fell 2.1% from December 2023
- Chemicals + allied products fell 0.9% in the last month and increased 0.5% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products rose 0.1% since November and increased 1.0% since December 2023
- Lumber + wood products rose 0.2% in the last month and increased 1.7% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products saw no change since November and rose 3.4% from December 2023
- Metals + metal products fell by 0.7% in the last month and decreased 1.0% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment rose 0.3% from November and increased 3.0% since December 2023
- Furniture + household durables decreased 0.2% in the last month and increased 1.3% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products decreased 0.2% since November and increased 3.7% from December2023
- Transportation equipment increased 0.1% in the last month and rose 1.8% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products fell 0.1% from November and increased 5.5% since December 2023
