The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released December Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products fell 1.5% in the last month and decreased 17.5% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds decreased 0.6% from November and fell 1.0% since December 2022
- Textile products + apparel fell 0.6% in the last month and fell 1.4% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power fell 7.6% since November and decreased by 10.5% from December 2022
- Chemicals + allied products decreased 0.5% in the last month and fell 4.5% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products increased 0.2% since November and fell by 2.2% since December 2022
- Lumber + wood products saw no change in the last month and fell 4.1% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products fell 0.7% since November and fell 1.9% from December 2022
- Metals + metal products rose 1.9% in the last month and increased 0.4% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment saw no change from November and increased 3.5% since December 2022
- Furniture + household durables decreased 0.4% in the last month and increased 0.7% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products saw no change since November and increased 5.2% from December 2022
- Transportation equipment saw no change in the last month and increased 1.8% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products rose 0.3% from November and increased 5.1% since December 2022
