The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released August Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products fell 3.3% in the last month and decreased 0.6% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds decreased 0.2% from July and increased 1.8% since August 2023
- Textile products + apparel saw no change in the last month and rose 1.7% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power decreased 3.0% since July and fell 8.4% from August 2023
- Chemicals + allied products increased 0.5% in the last month and rose 1.5% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products decreased 0.4% since July and increased 0.9% since August 2023
- Lumber + wood products rose 0.3% in the last month and fell 0.9% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products fell 0.1% since July and increased 1.9% from August 2023
- Metals + metal products decreased 0.9% in the last month and fell 1.2% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment increased 0.1% from July and rose 2.6% since August 2023
- Furniture + household durables rose 0.3% in the last month and increased 1.0% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products rose 0.2% since July and increased 4.1% from August 2023
- Transportation equipment saw no change in the last month and rose 1.7% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products increased 0.6% from July and increased 5.7% since August 2023
