The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released August 2026 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- All commodities increased 1.4% since July and rose 9.7% from August 2025
- Farm products fell 2.9% in the last month and decreased 3.3% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds fell 0.3% from July and saw no change from August 2025
- Textile products + apparel rose 0.6% in the last month and increased 5.7% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power rose 6.0% since July and increased 27.5% from August 2025
- Chemicals + allied products fell 0.5% in the last month and increased 6.5% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products fell 0.4% from July and rose 5.7% since August 2025
- Lumber + wood products decreased 0.3% in the last month and 4.7% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products rose 0.8% since July and increased 4.7% from August 2025
- Metals + metal products increased 1.0% in the last month and rose 16.3% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment rose 0.8% from July and rose 7.6% since August 2025
- Furniture + household durables increased 0.4% in the last month and rose 3.3% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products rose 0.4% since July and increased 4.3% from August 2025
- Transportation equipment increased 0.2% in the last twelve months and rose 2.4% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products rose 1.0% from July and increased 5.8% since August 2025
