The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released August 2020 Consumer Price Indexes (CPI) today. The All commodities index saw an increase of 0.3% in the last month and increased by 1.3% in the last 12 months. Food rose by 0.1% from July – August ’20 and has risen 4.1% between August 2019 – August 2020. Food at home saw a 0.1% decrease from July 2020 while an increase of 4.1% occurred from August 2019. Used cars and trucks rose 5.8% between July and August 2020 and increased by 4.0% between August ’19 – August ’20. Dairy & related products increased 1.8% in the last thirty days and saw a 5.7% increase in the last twelve months. Appliances rose by 1.8% from July 2020 and increased by 6.7% since August 2019. Carbonated drinks went up by 0.8% in the last month and saw an increase of 8.7% in the last twelve months. Household furnishings and supplies saw an increase of 0.6% from July 2020 and rose by 2.6% since August 2019.
