The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released April 2022 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes are on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products rose 4.9% in the last month and increased 35.6% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds increased 2.5% from March 2022 and rose by 13.6% since April 2021
- Textile products + apparel increased 1.7% in the last month and rose by 14.1% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power rose 4.1% from March 2022 and increased 50.1% since April 2021
- Chemicals+ allied products increased 1.7% in the last month and rose 14.1% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products rose 1.0% from March 2022 and increased by 19.9% since April 2021
- Lumber + wood products decreased 3.9% in the last month and increased 10.8% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products rose 1.6% from March 2022 and increased 17.8% since April 2021
- Metals + metal products rose 1.9% in the last month and increased 24.7% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment increased 1.4% from March 2022 and rose 10.8% since April 2021
- Furniture + household durables increased 1.0% in the last month and rose 10.8% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products increased by 1.1% in the last month and rose 11.9% in the last twelve months
- Transportation equipment rose 0.5% from March 2022 and increased 5.1% since April 2021
