The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released October Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products increased 0.1% in the last month and rose 2.8% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds fell 0.5% from September and increased 1.8% since October 2023
- Textile products + apparel rose 0.5% in the last month and increased 0.4% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power increased 1.0% since September and fell 10.5% from October 2023
- Chemicals + allied products rose 0.8% in the last month and increased 0.5% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products rose 0.1% since September and increased 1.4% since October 2023
- Lumber + wood products rose 0.7% in the last month and increased 0.3% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products increased 0.1% since September and rose 1.4% from October 2023
- Metals + metal products rose by 0.7% in the last month and increased 1.3% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment rose 0.1% from September and increased 2.8% since October 2023
- Furniture + household durables increased 0.4% in the last month and increased 1.6% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral product saw no change since September and increased 3.7% from October 2023
- Transportation equipment increased 0.3% in the last month and rose 1.6% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products saw no change from September and increased 5.8% since October 2023
