The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released April 2026 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- All commodities increased 3.1% since April and rose 12.9% from May 2025
- Farm products rose 2.4% in the last month and increased 7.0% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds increased 0.3% from April and rose 1.8% since May 2025
- Textile products + apparel rose 1.2% in the last month and increased 5.6% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power increased 8.8% since April and rose 40.2% from May 2025
- Chemicals + allied products rose 5.0% in the last month and increased 9.4% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products increased 1.7% from April and rose 4.2% since May 2025
- Lumber + wood products rose 0.2% in the last month and 2.3% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products rose 1.1% since April and increased 2.2% from May 2025
- Metals + metal products increased 1.7% in the last month and rose 16.0% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment rose 0.1% from April and increased 7.5% since May 2025
- Furniture + household durables increased 0.1% in the last month and rose 2.6% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products 0.6% since April and increased 3.7% from May 2025
- Transportation equipment increased 0.3% in the last twelve months and rose 2.6% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products decreased 0.6% from April and increased 5.9% since May 2025
