The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released May 2025 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products rose 0.2% in the last month and rose 4.9% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds rose 0.6% from April and increased 3.5% since May 2024
- Textile products + apparel fell 0.7% in the last month and decreased 0.8% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power decreased 0.9% since April and fell 3.4% from May 2024
- Chemicals + allied products fell 0.3% in the last month and increased 0.7% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products rose 0.3% since April and rose 0.7% since May 2024
- Lumber + wood products fell 0.5% in the last month and increased 1.6% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products increased 0.5% since April and rose 1.6% from May 2024
- Metals + metal products rose by 1.3% in the last month and increased 4.9% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment rose 0.4% from April and increased 3.5% since May 2024
- Furniture + household durables increased 0.7% in the last month and rose 2.9% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products fell 0.2% since April and increased 2.9% from May 2024
- Transportation equipment saw no change in the last month and rose 1.7% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products rose 0.4% from April and increased 4.4% since May 2024
