The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released July 2024 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products fell 1.2% in the last month and decreased 1.7% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds rose 0.7% from June and increased 2.2% since July 2023
- Textile products + apparel decreased 0.2% in the last month and rose 0.8% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power rose 3.6% since June and increased 3.2% from July 2023
- Chemicals + allied products increased 1.3% in the last month and fell 0.1% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products decreased 0.4% since June and increased 0.5% since July 2023
- Lumber + wood products decreased 0.6% in the last month and fell 2.5% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products increased 0.1% since June and increased 1.9% from July 2023
- Metals + metal products decreased 0.3% in the last month and rose 0.5% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment increased 0.1% from June and rose 2.6% since July 2023
- Furniture + household durables rose 0.4% in the last month and increased 0.9% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products rose 0.2% since June and increased 4.0% from July 2023
- Transportation equipment increased 0.3% in the last month and rose 1.7% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products increased 0.3% from June and increased 5.6% since July 2023
