The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released January 2026 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- All commodities fell 0.3% since December and rose 1.6% from January 2025
- Farm products rose 0.3% in the last month and fell 6.4% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds fell 0.9% from December and rose 1.4% since January 2025
- Textile products + apparel rose 0.8% in the last month and increased 3.4% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power decreased 3.4% since December and fell 6.1% from January 2025
- Chemicals + allied products fell 0.3% in the last month and increased 0.3% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products rose 0.1% since December and increased 0.7% since January 2025
- Lumber + wood products increased 0.1% in the last month and rose 0.2% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products rose 0.1% since December and increased 1.3% from January 2025
- Metals + metal products increased 3.2% in the last month and rose 15.3% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment rose 0.3% from December and increased 6.3% since January 2025
- Furniture + household durables increased 0.4% in the last month and rose 4.0% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products rose 0.2% since December and increased 2.2% from January 2025
- Transportation equipment increased 0.3% in the last month and rose 2.4% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products rose 0.3% from December and increased 6.5% since January 2025
