The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released August 2025 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products fell 1.5% in the last month and rose 9.8% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds increased 0.7% from July and rose 4.5% since August 2024
- Textile products + apparel fell 0.4% in the last month and increased 1.2% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power fell 1.1% since July and decreased 2.4% from August 2024
- Chemicals + allied products rose 0.1% in the last month and saw no change in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products saw no change since July and rose 0.3% since August 2024
- Lumber + wood products rose 0.2% in the last month and increased 1.8% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products fell 0.2% since July and rose 1.5% from August 2024
- Metals + metal products rose 0.7% in the last month and increased 9.1% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment rose 0.6% from July and increased 4.5% since August 2024
- Furniture + household durables fell 0.2% in the last month and rose 3.2% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products rose 0.4% since July and increased 2.9% from August 2024
- Transportation equipment increased 0.1% in the last month and rose 2.0% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products rose 0.6% from July and increased 5.0% since August 2024
