The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released April 2026 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- All commodities increased 3.5% since March and rose 9.7% from April 2025
- Farm products rose 2.7% in the last month and increased 4.6% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds increased 0.4% from March and rose 2.1% since April 2025
- Textile products + apparel rose 0.3% in the last month and increased 3.6% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power increased 12.7% since March and rose 27.7% from April 2025
- Chemicals + allied products rose 2.6% in the last month and increased 3.9% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products increased 1.4% from March and rose 2.8% since April 2025
- Lumber + wood products rose 1.9% in the last month and 1.6% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products rose 0.7% since March and increased 1.6% from April 2025
- Metals + metal products increased 1.0% in the last month and rose 15.5% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment rose 1.2% from March and increased 7.7% since April 2025
- Furniture + household durables increased 0.9% in the last month and rose 3.3% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products 0.1% since March and increased 3.3% from April 2025
- Transportation equipment increased 0.2% in the last month and rose 2.3% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products decreased 0.8% from March and increased 5.7% since April 2025
