The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released April 2025 Producer Price Indexes (PPI) today. Highlights are as follows (all indexes on a seasonally unadjusted basis):
- Farm products decreased 2.3% in the last month and rose 4.6% in the last twelve months
- Processed foods + feeds rose 0.2% from March and increased 3.2% since April 2024
- Textile products + apparel increased 0.6% in the last month and rose 0.1% in the last twelve months
- Fuels, related products + power decreased 0.7% since March and fell 7.2% from April 2024
- Chemicals + allied products fell 0.7% in the last month and increased 0.1% in the last twelve months
- Rubber + plastic products rose 0.2% since March and rose 0.3% since April 2024
- Lumber + wood products saw no change in the last month and increased 1.2% in the last twelve months
- Pulp, paper + allied products increased 0.2% since March and rose 1.7% from April 2024
- Metals + metal products rose by 0.9% in the last month and increased 4.8% in the last twelve months
- Machinery + equipment rose 0.9% from March and increased 3.1% since April 2024
- Furniture + household durables increased 0.4% in the last month and rose 2.5% in the last twelve months
- Nonmetallic mineral products fell 0.9% since March and increased 2.6% from April 2024
- Transportation equipment increased 0.2% in the last month and rose 1.7% in the last twelve months
- Miscellaneous products rose 0.8% from March and increased 5.5% since April 2024
