CPI & PPI INDEX & BLS WEIGHTS FILE DOWNLOADS:
CPI index files required for LIFO-PRO IPIC (Simplified LIFO) calculations:
Our CPI index files are available only in .zip or .exe files which require a password to open. Clients may contact us via phone or email for passwords.
The password-protected .zip file containing indx2005.cpi, indx2004.cpi, indx2003.cpi, indx2002.cpi, indx2001.cpi, blswts.cpi, & catnames.cpi is: cpifiles.zip
Extract these files from the zip file to the \bls folder shown on the top row of the CPI files listing on the right side of the IPIC menu, overwriting any existing files with the same names.
The self-extracting executable version of this file is: cpifiles.exe
PPI Table 6 index files required for LIFO-PRO IPIC (Simplified LIFO) calculations:
Our PPI index files are available only in .zip or .exe files which require a password to open. Clients may contact us via phone or email for passwords.
The password-protected .zip file containing indx2005.ppi, indx2004.ppi, indx2003.ppi, indx2002.ppi, indx2001.ppi, blswts.ppi, & catnames.ppi is: ppifiles.zip
Extract these files from the zip file to the \bls folder shown on the top row of the PPI files listing on the right side of the IPIC menu, overwriting any existing files with the same names.
The self-extracting executable version of this is: ppifiles.exe
All PPI index files contain Preliminary indexes; those originally published in the monthly PPI Detailed Report. The PPI BLS Weights in blswts.ppi are final weights.
Accessing the BLS Web site to see how much inflation there has been historically for one or more PPI or CPI categories can be quite a project. There is an easier way to do this. We have put together an Excel file containing the PPI Table 6 and CPI Table 3 December/Prior December inflation rates (not just raw indexes) for all categories for the past 12 years. If you would like a copy of this file, please ask for this via E-Mail request.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) posts to their LabStat Web site files containing all CPI and PPI indexes (in separate files). These are posted on about the 15th of the month. These files contain a great deal of extraneous data not needed for Simplified LIFO calculation. We convert the BLS index files to files containing only the indexes necessary for LIFO calculations and make these available to clients (via posting to this Web site) usually within a few hours of their public release for CPI indexes and within a day for PPI indexes. Department Stores Indexes are released at the same time as CPI indexes.

Click on this link to access scheduled release dates of future months' PPI indexes:

In the LIFO-PRO IPIC Menu screen, the right side of the screen displays .cpi and .ppi files and the months' indexes the files contain. If the latest month displayed is not more current after downloading from this page, you may have placed the file in the wrong folder. The folder name containing the .cpi and .ppi files is displayed at the top of this screen.
BLS Department Stores Indexes:
BLS Department Stores indexes for 1995 through the present (most current month available - these are available at the same time that CPI indexes are - see above regarding timing) are available in an Excel file. Copy these indexes for the necessary months into the LIFO-PRO BLS Department Stores Indexes Table Screen:
blsdsind.xls
Note: If this file automatically opens as a spreadsheet rather than displaying a dialogue box prompting you to download and save it to your machine, you can select Save As from your browser's File menu and choose the directory you want to save the file to, then click your browser's Back button to return to the Downloads page. Alternatively, you can download this file by placing your cursor on the desired link, right-clicking on the link with your mouse, selecting Save Target As (or Save Link As in Netscape) from the resulting menu, then choosing the directory you want to save the file to.
LIFO-PRO Program Files:
Versions 3.0 and higher are compliant with the new IRS IPIC LIFO Regulations issued January 2002 but also allow calculations using old IPIC LIFO Regulations.
LIFO-PRO versions 3.2 and higher include an automatic CPI and PPI index and BLS Weights files download feature. Software users no longer need to download the files listed above manually, provided they have an online connection to the internet and the FTP downloads are not blocked by a firewall. If these automatic downloads are blocked by a firewall your IT department will need to provide access to our web server through your firewall. If this is the case, contact us for our web server's IP address.
Upgrade Only-to LIFO-PRO Version 3.9.1
Upgrade to the latest version by downloading the following file:
lp32bit.exe
Save the lp32bit.exe file to disk in the program file folder containing the existing lp32bit.exe file, overwriting the existing file with this name (make sure the program is closed before doing this). The program file folder can be determined by clicking on the About top menu bar option. The program folder is also shown at the bottom of the IPIC Menu.
Full Installation Setup
setupex.exe
Click on the password protected setupex.exe file download link above. Save this file to disk. Once this file is downloaded, double click on this file and the setup will start. Enter the password provided by LIFO-PRO, Inc. when prompted for the password.
It is necessary to run the full installation setup on each PC for which LIFO-PRO is to be used. All Windows programs install .dll and .ocx files on each PCs C drive even if you specify a network server path as the installation path. A full installation setup will be necessary when you start using a new or different PC which does not have LIFO-PRO 32 bit installed on it. The installation path is simply where the program's executable (.exe) file, Online Help file and several other files are installed.
The default installation path is c:\lifopro. If you want this to be a network server path, specify the desired path instead. This need not be the path in which the LIFO-PRO data files are. The default data files path (where LIFO-PRO starts looking for files) is wherever the program is installed (c:\lifopro e.g.) but this can be changed to any path on any drive. This is done by clicking on Specify Top Level Data Path top menu bar option on the Company Selection screen(1st screen that appears when LIFO-PRO is started).
When the setup is done, LIFO-PRO 32 bit will be listed in the Programs menu when you click the Start button. The program version will be displayed briefly on the first screen displayed when LIFO-PRO is started. Versions earlier than 2.0.0 are 16 bit versions no longer supported.
